The front that came through the area over the weekend
not only made it feel like September also put a complete halt to walleye
fishing on Friday and Saturday. By Sunday afternoon the lake had calmed
down enough for a few fishermen to get back out on the lake but by then the
only fish that were interested in biting were the Sheephead.
The walleye fishing here on the south shore has been
very good, the best action has been later in the day in 3 to 6 feet of water
on the rock humps just west of here and again near the mouth of Shotley Brook.
The hot bite for big northern pike just has not happened as of yet, I personally
think it has to do with the lack of rain and the low flows from the creeks
and rivers.
It has been kind of a busy week around here, quite a
few fishermen last weekend and again this week. The walleye fishing
was slow for most of it but the past couple of days they have been doing
quite well near the mouth of Shotley Brook in 4 to 8 feet of water.
The northern pike have been few and far between but when
they do find one they are usually close to 40 inches.

It certainly was a nice weekend for fishing on
To my surprise there were about 10 crappie carcasses
in one of the fish gut buckets when I went to empty them this a.m. I did
not here anyone bragging about their catch but someone is still catching
a few fish somewhere.
Not much has changed in the past week, still seeing
just a few crappies coming in off the cribs. The walleye fishing actually
is very good when the wind is not blowing everyone off of the lake; you still
have to catch a dozen fish to find one in the slot. Even though the
northern pike fishing is getting better each day there are just a few fishermen
out there chasing them around.

The crappie fishing has really slowed down, just few
being caught off the cribs, plenty of smaller walleyes are still being caught
close to shore and at the mouth of the river.
The big pike are starting to turn on, I personally have
seen several fish over 40 inches and one close to 45 inches so far this year.
